The league leaders showed themselves to be irresistible and untouchable at Castalia once again.
Castellón beat Real Madrid Castilla in another goalfest (4-1)

Many things were on display at Castalia on Saturday: a tribute to legend Pablo Hernández, a huge Castellón jersey over the main stand as the players came out, but more importantly, another spectacular performance to follow up on last week’s 5-1 demolition of Mérida.

Castellón opened the scoring with only a few minutes played from a fantastic corner routine straight from the training ground. Medunjanin’s low pass fell to Manu Sánchez via Raúl Sánchez, the former separating himself from his defender and had time to place the ball past Cañizares. In a non-stop opening 10 minutes, Castilla would have equalized but for a great save by Crettaz and Medunjanin also had a fine long-range shot saved.

There was absolutely no mercy from the Albinegres, who made it three within 25 minutes. Another well-worked corner routine allowed De Miguel to find with a net with a beautiful overhead kick, after a ball that was headed back in from the far post, and just over a minute later, Moyita grabbed his first goal for the club after getting on the end of a low cross which left the Castilla keeper with no chance.

Castellón kept the pressure up, but los blancos managed to take advantage of a defensive mistake which allowed Nico Paz to give Castilla a path back into the game. It was a well-taken finish from the Argentine, giving Castellón something to think about in what had been one-way traffic until that point. The visitors even arguably closed out the half as the better side, putting Castellón under pressure, but it was little compared to the damage already inflicted by the Albinegres during the first 20 minutes.

The return from halftime was also active, with both sides getting into dangerous situations early on. Crettaz had to make another good save to avoid Castellón conceding a second in what was a back and forth 15 minutes.

Raúl Sánchez’s good play down the left allowed him to get into a dangerous area just before 70 minutes, but his shot was well saved. It became the Cañizares show for a while, as Castilla’s keeper was forced into action twice from close range to deny Castellón a fourth. Real also had their chances though, with a lapse in concentration by Castellón gifting them a one-on-one situation, but it was a tame shot that didn’t trouble Crettaz.

After Schreuder freshened up the team by bringing on Chirino, Jozhua, and De Leon, the substitutes decided they also wanted to get in on the action and brought the energy. De Leon had the first opportunity but his shot was well saved, and it was summer signing Daijiro Chirino who eventually broke through with one minute left in normal time. It was a great finish from the right wing by the Curaçaoan international for his first Castellón goal, with De Leon there to provide the assist and put the cherry on top of another excellent Castellón performance.
