Castellón visit Ibiza for their toughest test so far
Ibiza is internationally more famous for its party scene than its football, but Castellón is traveling focused on doing their business on the pitch and bringing back the three points. In what is the biggest game of the season so far in the Primera RFEF, both teams have shown themselves to be a cut above the rest this campaign.
The Albinegros have only dropped five points in 13 games this season, while the home side is four points behind, having drawn two additional games. A win in Ibiza would be Castellón’s fourth in a row, while Ibiza had a comfortable win last time out away at Melilla.
Although the Balearic team has conceded 13 goals, the vast majority of them have come from individual errors or wonder strikes in recent games. The three goals they conceded in their loss against Intercity were all of that type (player not tracked on corner, ball passed directly to opponent, and the worst handball penalty you’ve ever seen). This means that the number of goals they've conceded is considerably more than they should have, and Castellón will be up against an excellent defensive side.
As the second highest scoring side in the whole Primera RFEF, behind only Castellón, they also stand out offensively - maybe even more so. With Eugeni in a midfield creator role and pace and power through Cedric and Soko in particular, they can create danger in a number of different ways. And that's without mentioning top scorer Alex Gallar, who plays on the left, and target man Nikolay Obolskiy, who has experience formerly of Dynamo Moscow in the Russian top flight. They have an embarrassment of riches and options in the final third that Castellón will have to contend with.
However, none of that will change Dick Schreuder’s high-pressing, attacking approach, and it should make for an entertaining game with the potential to see a number of goals from both teams. The visitors' lineup should remain largely unchanged, with the only expected swap being Oscar Gil replacing Alberto, unless Schreuder is preparing a few surprises.
